We leave Explora by van, going through the different curves and beautiful waterfalls that are formed thanks to the geography of the Río de las Vueltas valley, to go into the deepest and most humid forests of the Lago del Desierto Provincial Reserve. Once we reach the lake, after making a panoramic stop, we return along the route to the lodge.

A brief hike from the lodge will take us to the entrance of the Los Huemules Reserve forest. Along the way are lenga and ñires trees, and lagoons, as well as the company of native birds.

We hike from the lodge crossing a lenga and ñire forest, watching different types of birds and huemul deer tracks. We hike up to the Azul Lagoon, a water reserve that will reveal what has happened there. Different water birds will follow us along during this hike.

In this exploration we will learn more about the birds of this region. We will leave by van to the Laguna Cóndor. We will walk to a viewpoint to contemplate the landscape and observe various types of birds that live there to learn more about them and their behavior. Then we will continue walking through an old lengas forest that will allow us to see other birds. We will return by van to Explora.

The Southern Ice Field is considered one of the world’s most remote and inhospitable places. Walking over this huge ice and snow plateau is one of the most transformative experiences for an explorer.

We begin our trip at El Calafate, from where we approach the front of this magnificent and sculptured ice mass that will constantly remind us that it is always moving. Travelers will have the option to take the different walkways.

While we drive to the Perito Moreno Glacier, we will learn more about its history, the Patagonian steppe, the area’s nature, the dynamics of glaciers, and the features that make this one so special.

We border the Las Vueltas River, enjoying different perspectives of the valley and wide views of the Andes Mountains We stop along the way to get different views of the Los Andes Mountain Range.

We walk along a low difficulty path through the forest of the least known areas of El Chaltén. On the way back, we see the valley surrounded by woody mountains.

This exploration is a trip in time, including a guided visit to the house of pioneer Andreas Madsen.
