The trip from Atacama to the Ramaditas Mountain Home will cross the Altiplano through an active Andes Mountain Range. We leave the lodge and cross towards Bolivia, stopping first at the White Lagoon. We walk along the south border of the lagoon to enjoy the altitude landscape and bird watching.
We then go to the Green Lagoon, from where we walk to the Apachetas viewpoint, where we get a view of the Licancabur and Sairecabur volcanoes. We continue towards the Sol de Mañana Geysers, where the smell of sulfur alerts us of mineral-rich underground currents.
We walk to the lagoons to see amazing flocks of flamingos and other birds. We have lunch enjoying this landscape, the Altiplano, and the Red Lagoon, to then continue with our trip.

We travel to the Cachi and Pastos Grandes Lagoons, walking along the border of the Cachi or Salada Lagoon, watching vicuñas and flamingos. We then head off to the Pastos Grandes Lagoon, surrounding it to have lunch enjoying the view of the Altiplano landscape and with Andean winds and air.

While leaving our Mountain Home towards Chituca we can see the transition from a solitary and extensive Andean expanse to an increasingly friendly geography, which thereby allows for human demography. We will come closer to towns and appreciate the changes in the ecosystem, from areas with scarce vegetation to actively worked fields.
With our driver and guide we cross the lagoons of the Altiplano (Honda, Char Kota, Hedionda), with different views to the volcanoes. We continue until we reach the Turquiri Lagoon, watching diverse Andean wildlife along the road. This lagoon features a large concentration of birds, surrounded by impressive ignimbrite formations.
We walk bordering a grazing wetland for llamas and goats, a haven for one of the traditional trades in the aera. We will then have lunch in the heights of the Turquiri Lagoon with broad views to the Altiplano. We head back to the Mountain Home in Chituca.

We wander through the Valle de las Rocas up to the necropolis, an ancient archaeological burial site. We continue across the Valley of Jawincha, learning about part of its history reflected in the petroglyphs and pictograms, and have lunch there. We cross another petroglyph site and continue to the town of San Pedro de Quemes to learn about its history. Finally, we visit the hidden village of Ikala before returning to the Mountain Home.

We drive from the lodge to the Salar viewpoint, with views to the vastness of the white landscape. We then have the option of walking to the Pukará. This stronghold is a stone construction that served as protection for villages; there are still vestiges as a token of its role. These buildings are full with the history of Andean peoples.

We drive up to a plain with queñoas and llareta moss. This particular type of vegetation grows in high areas, contrasting with the immutable horizon of the salt flat. There will be views to the Tunupa Volcano and the Uyuni Salt Flat while we wander through scarce woods. Several birds follow along.

This exploration tours small villages that are relatively isolated because they are bordering the salt flat. We begin the tour from the Tajamari River to arrive in Guajala, a farming area with irrigation channels. We then travel to Caquena, a village we can tour and appreciate an Andean ranching. We will also visit a small school in Chiltaico.

The light changes in intensity through the white ocean under our feet, and the sky lightens up in reddish tones. During full moon, the sunset can be seen to the west while the moon rises to the east.
