About Us
We craft in-depth explorations and nomadic journeys in South America’s remotest corners, using our award winning lodges as bases from which to go deeper into each territory, and using exploration journeys to drive conservation.
To explore remote territories as a journey to conservation
Our journey has always had a purpose: to drive conservation through in-depth exploration, building experiential awareness of the magnificence and fragility of these unique territories, and therefore of the urgency behind their protection.
The region gifts us with knowledge, and knowledge leads us to evenmore places and their discoveries. Igniting an endless cycle of deeper connections, deeper knowledge, deeper conservation. Deeper exploration.
The key is to go deeper. Always.
Our commitment is to both the remote landscapes we explore, as well as to the explorers that join us on our journey to conservation.
Five core principles align the explora team throughout our locations, representing our commitment to both the landscapes we explore, as well as to the explorers that join us on our journey.
-Care for the Journey
-Close attention for travelers
-Pursuit of excellence
-Conservation for the future
-Passion for exploration
A group of friends who were enthusiastic about unconventional travel and adventure gave life to Explora. The idea behind the company was to offer journeys in remote areas of South America that were different because of the experience they provided and their intense interaction with nature and local culture. 1993 First came the launch of Explora Patagonia, in the extreme south of America, the center of operations for our explorations in Patagonia, and the only hotel situated in the heart of the Torres del Paine National Park, a world biodiversity reserve. It was the begining...
Explora was born from an impulse.
An impulse to discover and understand the marvels that lie within the remotest territories in the world. In over 25 years, we made our way to becoming world-class pioneers in exploration. And as such, we embraced the compromise inherent to the knowledge we bear: the responsibility to conserve the territories we explore.
Today, we take this responsibility by the reins.
